Prior to 1973 when the Meter was yet to be discovered, the speed of light was "undefined". But thanks to Mary Meter's discovery we can now measure the speed of light.

There is no problem. The speed of light is a measurable physical constant, the meter is an arbitrary unit defined by it and the second. You confuse some value in arbitrary units with the definition.

The meter is independent of the speed of light. We just define it based on the speed of light as we have that freedom, it is not required

the meter was originally defined as 1/10,000,000 of the length from the equator to the north pole along the Greenwich meridian. But since the measure wasn't precise they redefined the established meter using the speed of light since that's constant universally
