The reason doctors don't want to follow checklists is the same as anyone in the navy, they have massive egos and they think a checklist is beneath them, they're experts after all! Think on that, doctors in America are so egotistical they would rather suffer malpractice and kill you than have their feelings hurt and just use a fucking checklist.
Most doctors think of themselves as gods. Nurses too. This covid epidemic made it even worse.

Afraid not chap. There are way more male doctors in high risk fields like surgery so naturally more male doctors kill patients because most doctors who bear the risk of killing the patient are male. If we measure average individual mortality rates in the same fields then yes we'll find that females make more errors except for in cases where the gender ratio is so skewed that the female sample size is too small for proper comparison.

Doctors are insecure because they spent 15 years learning something and they are no better than a simple symptom checker 90% of the time.

Having said that, there is nothing worse than an uneducated layman who walks into the doctors office thinking they know more than the expect, just because they spent their evenings reading Wikipedia a few studies. These people are obnoxious and try to reduce everything to whatever it is they're focused on.
