Today I saw somebody say that the coronavirus has been known about for decades and that the scientists always knew it was going to become a pandemic. If that was the case then why didn't they start making the vaccine 20 years ago instead of rushing it at the last second and skipping the approval process? Anyways, that anon was misleading you. There are what you would call various species of coronaviruses. Some have always been with us and they just give a cold like other viruses. Others, only target certain animals and are not compatible with animals.

SImply put, like other viruses that can give you a cold there was no incentive to make a vaccine since before 2020 coronaviruses infections weren't severe nor infectious enough to affect the global economy.

Because the quality of a university is inversely proportional to the quantity of shitskin in it. I am sorry you did not make it to a truly selective course to discover that.
And it's not about poverty. A fair amount of students in top European university come from blue collar social backgrounds. And yes, there are some more talented blacks, Arabs, etc... But they mostly come from good families and are rare.

Dept hires a new prof - Indian. He hires a post doc - Indian. They accept a bunch of new grad students. GUESS FUCKING WHAT. OVER HALF ARE INDIAN. they all work under the Indian prof so now he has a lab group of like 5 and all of them are indian. They accept super shit pay because 9/hr is like triple what they got at home. They all live together in an indian neighborhood. They all go to Indian restaurants. They have zero contact with any other cultures or people in the dept even though youre not even in fucking india more. Super fucking racist and incorrigible to talk to.

I agree with your take. In uni we had a bunch of outreach events where a bunch of girls (only) from highschools and visit campus to get them into STEM. We had femal profs showing demos, shit like that.

This.
