What makes you so certain that nihilism or depression does not exist outside of the first world? Does that sort of data even exist?

There is some mechanistic explanation like low amounts of sunlight exposure or sedentary lifestyles messing with hormones, but that shit is not invented somatically as you think it is.

Just forget about the mind/body distinction as its unhelpful. A thought is in the head like a fist is in the hand. It's a mode of being, not being as an essence. Consciousness is an interaction like any other which is defined by other recursive interactions. Atoms likewise, are also as such. In a sense, everything can become conscious as it can be deformed into a dynamic strucure whose interactions produce consciousness. But dead matter is dead matter until it morphs into such a dynamic structure capable to causing consciousness to emerge i.e., the human organism. Consciousness is an embodidied property then which is "filtered" into existance so to speak.

That's my spinozist take on it anyhow.
