Once everyone in a population who is eligible for vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 has been offered and has either accepted or declined the vaccination all restrictions should then be lifted.

This is the general consensus of /sci/. Correct?

Many people here are unfortunately academics or at least pro academia.
Academics are reliant on a big government. If lockdowns and restrictions serve one purpose, it is to centralize governmental powers. A strong government has a higher chance of pumping more money into academia. Thus most people here are against lifted restrictions, as it would directly harm their financial/carrer opportunities.

That's not why we're against restrictions. In the case of the United States, there are still enough unvaccinated people to max out hospital capacity if restrictions are lifted; something we are seeing happen right now.
If vaccination rates were higher it would be possible to lift restrictions without an unsustainable surge in hospitalizations.

Vaccinations are not logical gates; they are statistical tools. Their goal is to achieve herd immunity. If the propagation ratio is not under the required value, then other methods for suppressing the spread ratio are still needed.
