It's a powerful unifying religious doctrine and moral framework. There's a reason all of mankind's greatest intellectuals even up to the present day are at least agnostic Deists who are culturally Christian. Any well read scholar and researcher in Western civilization understands its place in the context of broader metaphysics, mysticism and philosophy continuing from Ancient times. Disrespecting theology to those great minds is just as childish as disrespecting Plato or Pythagos; you don't have to agree with all of it, it's an ever evolving conversation.
