My cousin told me Pluto is no longer a planet because it drifted out of our solar system and has become a rogue planet.

It didn't drift, it was forced to leave. The Walt Disney Company sued Pluto for trademark infringement. Now it has to leave the solar system and stay far enough away to never be observed again. There's only one Pluto and Disney owns it.

It's because scientists literally changed the definition of "planet" in 2006.

That's seriously the reason, the word "planet" itself changed meaning and now pluto no longer falls under that definition any more.

So now there's eight planets.
