Say you have ABC.........DEF
2 spaces after F, multiply A and F, then move forward a space, add the product of B and F, move forward a space, add the product of C and F, then get rid of F, and repeat the same process two spaces after E. The wto spaces is just the minimum amount of space so you don't get overlap, since the product might be two digit.
