>>13512158I had really bad eczema(diagnosed by multiple doctors) on my face for about 3 years or so. It took me so long to figure out the cause but now it has completely cleared up.
First I thought it was something to do with shampoo/soaps, so I spent months researching potentially bad chemicals and spending lots of $$ on expensive "dermatologically tested" products. Sometimes I would get some relief but it never lasted. I ended up using basically no soap. Still had eczema.
Next I thought maybe food, so I went on various elimination diets. Same kind of result as the shampoo/soap test - there would be some relief, but never the jackpot moment and it would always return.
I read about bacteria being a possible cause (namely staphylococcus aureus) so on my next doctors visit I asked the doctor to swab the eczema. The results said there was moderate growth of staph.
So to cure it I stopped using any steroids(stops your immune response). Washed my face with some harsh soap in the shower. Never used any moisturiser except sometimes alcohol based hand sanitiser. My skin got so dry and it was hell for about 1 week, but then the next week it started to get better and by about week 3 it was practically gone.
If this is the cause of your eczema then anything that lowers your immune system will make it worse i.e high stress, bad food etc. I think this might be why some people experience relief when they are less stressed or eat healthier.
TLDR; Get your eczema tested for staphylococcus aureus. If you have moderate/high growth then stop using steroids/moisturiser and wash your face with good soap.
