If the soul is material, it just proccedes from the same form of nature common to all men and their bodies. But you see the clear difference between the body of all men and the first move that the soul does with body, makes men behave in different way. If it is a proccess of reincarnation is true neither it affects the soul, but just the body, but we see that men differ in some ways because of the soul, then the body is the soul, unless there is an original "soul" a primal substance, but being a primal substance makes it for neccesity inmaterial. So there is no clear line between what is body or what is soul, so if there is no line between what is body or soul, an aspect concerning the body (reincarnation) could not be argued.
