>>13510891Hey mate, I have lots of experience with UK mathematics departments, used to be a student at a top one. Cambridge mathematics is unironically very difficult and even top students do kinda poorly (both for ugrad and part III). Many might have been better at a different place. The difference between mathmos and everyone else is almost unfair.
Oxford/Imperial/Warwick are pretty much at the same level for ugrad, pretty challenging anyway but a bit less so than Cambridge. If you didn't get into Oxford you are not in a worse place if you do your ugrad at Imperial or Warwick. If you like London you go to Imperial, if you want cheap accomodation you go to Warwick. But academically (as well as job opportunities, research opportunities, ...) they are all functionally the same (Cambridge doesn't give you the edge either, and it is easier to do poorly there which is actually detrimental).
At research level what really matters is your advisor, not the University (though top Universities have more good advisors).
Then there are places like UCL/Edinburgh/Bath etc, which are quite a bit easier than Cambridge/Oxford/Imperial/Warwick but if you do well you can easily get into a top place for MSc and then PhD.
Good luck for the future anon, and don't despair!
