Evidence is basically isotope ratios being vastly off compared to rest of solar system. It also suggests that the weapon was air-burst.
I have to ask, could it have been something akin to a comet creating a nuclear detonation, with the neuron cascades, fission products etc, but entirely natural? The though actually terrifies me more than an alien civilization causing a blast on Mars, I mean natural thermonuclear weapons, the size of skyscrapers at the very least, dropping from the skies?
