Great for certain plastics, a myth perpetuated by the plastic industry for a lot of others. Just them blame shifting the problem of plastic pollution to the consumer for not recycling it.

I had dream or vision where some sort of entity told me that we can easily dissolve plastic with some sort of solution which is very cheap to make is eco friendly and you can dump it into ocean.

Does anyone have numbers on what percentage by mass of new plastic products are made out of recycled material?

Seems like a more trustworthy number than what percentage ends up in the recycling bin, where most of it isn't recyclable.
