We're obviously never going to stop emitting CO2 since that would rely on us completely destroying our own way of life and embracing totalitarian eco-fascism, but just how fucked are we? It isn't. It is such a slow effect that humans can adapt. In terms of dramatic effects to the environment, this isn't any more severe than coming out of the ice age.

The Earth has seen CO2 levels like this before and has experienced the temperatures we will see. We'll have to deal with this anyways in a billion years when the sun boils the oceans. Trying to deny the inevitable is futile.

Dumb fuck we could do that shit right now with no long term consequences except for some oil companies going out of business.
All of the technology required to halt and reverse the impacts of climate change exist and are available right now, the only thing missing is the political will to make it happen.
So to put that another way: we are all going to die and there is nothing we can do about it.

Not to mention that "escaping to Mars" is a meme, the elite are stuck here with us. If they want to maintain the living standards they currently enjoy, they'd be working overtime on solving climate change. The fact that they aren't means that either there is no fix, or that they are trying to squeeze the last cents they can out of fossil fuels before trying to fix things, which would be comically short-sighted.

China already puts out more pollution than the entire G7 combined and this is increasing rapidly, Russia's president has come right out and said that believes that climate change will be beneficial to Russia's strategic interests and that he will therefore be moving to accelerate its progress.

Dumb cunt renewable have been cheaper and more efficient than fossil fuels for several years now, the only reason Australia's coal mining industry still exists, for example, is because of billions of dollars in subsidies our government gives the slimey cunts every year. Are you retarded? I’m not in Cavour of fossil fuels but if they weren’t cheaper they wouldn’t be used. You’re telling me a country could save on its fuel costs by switching to green and every single one decided not to do it? Countries make politically unpopular decisions all the time in order to secure energy (eg germany cozying up to Russia for fuel). If they could get cheaper energy, even if it were politically unpopular, they would do it. Not to mention in almost every western country it would be a huge political win to switch to green energy. I’m not pro fossil fuels but to say green doesn’t cost more is retarded beyond belief.

Doubtful. China has really no use for the Russian far east, even if it warms up. This is because there would be very little Chinese wanting to move up to the cold, and poor, north. In China today northern provinces have double digit percentage population declines in the last decade. Keep in mind that is probably worse than Detroit, but for and entire region. If China can't get it's people to live in the north of the country, I doubt that they would be able to colonize the Russian far east.

Canada today is basically a puppet of America. It can have autonomy but ultimately whatever Washington says Canada has to play ball. It is better for both sides to maintain the illusion of sovereignty because it is easier for everyone involved. Canada can claim independence and have internal autonomy while America doesn't have to lift a finger in their control of the country.

There's another path aside the energy poverty path and the massive reduction of population that can only happen by a holocaust

And that's the engineering path in developing a better, clean source of energy that can compete with fossil fuels.
To me it is clear that source of energy will be based on nuclear energy.

There was a book I read awhile back called The Sheep Look Up that covered a similar idea. It was written in the 70's so I'm not sure if the author was really aware of climate as a factor, but in the novel being outside is hazardous and required portable breathing devices. Indoor facilities and vehicles are fitted with air filtration systems and most people in the city centres simply don't go outside, rather move through indoor networks connecting buildings. I'm not sure how realistic it was necessarily, but if our air was so hazardous that there was a good justification for it I could see co2 scrubbers and other cost prohibitive filtration systems being fitted into buildings servicing probably just the wealthy most likely.
