The existence of the universe is fundamentally absurd. Is the absurdity of the universe being created truly more absurd than the absurdity of the universe simply existing? Would the absurdity of the universe being created really push it into a deeper realm of absurdity? Or does the universe having a creator simply mirror the expected absurdity of such an absurd system?

If someone is telling you he has the right, the true, the objective, the only one history of the universe, he's wrong. Words couldn't even describe the perfect tell of physics and universe, that's why we take maths and equations in physics and such.
But even math is still from a human level interpretation point of view, just another commodity, another way to communicate, and interpret reality. It's a convention.
We can mesure, we can put into equation phenomenon.
But who the fuck knows WHY in what purpose those law are the way they are. No one except religious people. If scientist says we now know why the universe is that way, they not scientist, they religious.

that's the whole point, many people think the idea of a god is ridiculous while living in an equally ridiculous reality. If the existence of the universe is not as absurd as the existence of god, then how does one quantity the absurdity of god?

You're forgetting that it is also absurd to suppose that the universe having any level of absurdity would somehow make it's existance less or more absurd. Otherwise stated as, the universe making sense to you bears no weight on whether it could exist in the way it does now.

You can go to the next layer of abstraction but you still just end up in a reality where the universe having a creator is no more absurd than it not. It's even more concrete at that point as if human experience is incapable of inferring what the universe is then anything is a possibility - which makes the universe completely absurd at the human level.
