>>13492083well, i'm sorry you feel the way you do, anon. i can only hope you internalize what i'm saying down the road, or maybe you'll simply veer off the path more into isolation and misanthropy, like most of the young men on this board and site. either way i don't think i can bring myself to care, i'm sure you understand.
>>13492176i will admit that is a feature of reddit - it does not play a role in the communities mentioned beyond how moderators use (more accurately, supposed to use) their power on 4chan, to block obvious abuse of the platform. you also underestimate reddit's right wing that exist in the form of modern liberal sponsors and talking heads, if not even the prominent conservative communities.
>but positive information on them is not deleteda fair point. i suppose you would have to go by community to see which ones just downvote anti-vaccine groups/messaging and which ones ban any critical discussion of it.
>I would expect the people here so i suppose the strongest counter here would be that most people on /sci/ don't use this platform to its best strength and while we do have a wealth of intelligent students, teachers, etc. here it's also used as a megaphone for bad faith political bandwagoners, a discord battleground, and a place for people who approach more complex math and science via the mental framework of what's necessary to consume pop science and youtube videos.
that's not to say this doesn't occur in the communities either, but to A. a lesser degree to where it does not spawn reiterative subcultures and B. demands a certain level of involvement in the topic at hand to understand the discussions being had or what posts should be made, unlike here where you can post, well, something like the op of this very thread.
the mistake you're making here is confusing the sufficient and necessary conditions, while 4chan indeed is set up in a way where it could be a better community for intellectual pursuit in practice it falls much behind reddit
