Build things that demonstrate competency and familiarity with good design + current tooling. The final piece in the puzzle is networking. Build some kind of online presence around your work(shithub + linkedin at the minimum), and find a way to get into networking events(this is what college is actually good for). Once you land your first gig you're set. Try to avoid wasting time interning; get the experience and get out - don't let them string you along if there's no certainty they'll take you on afterwards.
