How the FUCK does ONE (1) bad protein equate to a death sentence? That seems like a MAJOR flaw in biology that could be silently exploited by a genetically engineered coronavirus

it doesn't. the misfolds have to be very specific locations which is very improbably. in most cases it's just discarded or if it's a gene that has a wrong snp it leads to some defect
