As far as we can tell so far, the mRNA vaxes are significantly safer than the non-mRNA vaxes, which in turn are significantly safer than the virus itself (AstraZeneca uses the same spike protein as the virus, but most, if not all, of it should be bound at the injection site, and the limited quantity of it makes it safer than the virus).
