He is great at navigating academia because his genius father helped him.
You see this constellation of genius father < dumb son (who live in his shadow) quite often. I think its because the father is so genius that he just gives up on finding a woman that can keep up. So he ends up marrying a dumb, hot housewife who is a good mother. But is left with stupid kids that he resents.
Its comical, I know at least 3 families in which thats true. I feel bad for the sons because they always keep trying to transcend their fathers but theyre just a little cockroach compared to him
