I got into top 3 university in my cuntry (ranked by bio and biotech, overall it's 4 or 5) but I can't decide which one would be better. I checked the curriculum and it's mostly the same but obviously biotech has much more genetic engineering, molecular chemistry, protein engineering type courses but lacks taxonomy, evolutionary biology and other similar courses. I want to try my shot at doing research and biology seems to be a better fit for that but is much more risky financially, biotech is supposed to give more opportunities for jobs in industry, factories and pharmaceutical companies but is too specialized for my taste. Does it even make a difference? I probably could play it safe and study biotech now and switch to something different (like botany or mycology) in graduate school.
