I am planning to become a theoretical physicist with out going to college, I do not want job in the field I just want to do my own thing and just see what I can do, so what are some steps I can take to become one

read books, do tons of problems, read papers, give those problems a try.

This process generally takes something like 5 years, with lots of help from qualified teachers and researchers. Gonna be tough and take time if you go it alone. It will be rewarding though. Good luck.

Step 1: Take IQ test

Google MIT OCW physics. Use libgen and sci-hub to get book pdfs and scientific article pdfs.
If you can't figure it out beyond that, then you are destined to never make it
