Less energy efficient
A kettle is set-and-forget a microwave you have to keep checking if it's gotten to boiling unless you're using a volume and timing you're familiar with
And the biggest one is that you might superheat the water which is a big no no. Dozens of people end up in hospitals every year after burning the shit out of their hand because they superheated water in the microwave and the jostling when they went to pick it up set it off boiling all over their hand.
But most of those are behavioural issues so really if you're careful it's fine. A kettle is still far superior though. Microwaves are best for reheating drinks or steaming something.
