I have memorized times table 1-10 when I was a child. I can recall most when I need. Anything more is arcane to me lmao. Requires me to really calculate in my brain which is a waste of time/effort.

Also an American here, my times tables went up to 12x12
I don't know why I hear people learning only up to 10x10, is it just old people? Do some curricula just prefer dozenal?

Mexican't here.
My 2nd and 3rd grade teacher used to make us write down the numbers counting by X until a specific Y (usually ten thousand), and starting from whatever number he was feeling like.

I still remember happily chugging along, starting at 22 and adding 13 until I got to over 10 thousand. I would always check my work with a calculator.
I'm also pretty sure I'm the only person that ever finished the homework, so he might have just thought I was really bright and giving me something to waste my time.

Anyone have a similar experience?

I miss him, he bought a portable DVD player one time and let me watch Madagascar with his cutie daughters (a little older than me) during recess.
He died in a car accident around 6 years ago.
It's sad to know I don't even remeber his name, since I used to just call all my teachers "Profe".

16x16 is as high as I have memorized. After that, I have to do the math in my head. I don't have good scratch pad memory so for even something simple like 28*43 I'd use a calculator.
