Why cant we design a proper vertical wind turbine which is faster and efficient compared to a gearbox?

I want to put them on a boat and sail to international waters, where the wind speeds are faster and high up in the air.
Vertical ones can be 100m up without having the heavy generator up there, but inside the boat. Horizontal ones would make the boat unstable.

Think like a giant mast, but instead of moving the boat it makes me free money by mining shitcoins.

I think the vertical ones are harder on the bearings than the horizontal type, which just takes thrust and no bending like the vertical type.

Make it vertical when the wind is right on it for all wind to hit the surface area of the sail, and then flip it horizontal for the turn around so the sail does not get pushed back to the other side upon the turn around.

Uh, gravity exists. The bearings on traditional wind turbines need to support the weight of the turbine which is perpendicular to the direction of the wind.

vawt is shit, the only point of vawt is the price, it is very cheap
in cheap shit you use cheapest components, thus your only choice of generator is asynchronous, which requires a gearbox because it basically connects directly to the grid and needs to rotate with 50Hz (or 60Hz if you like burgers), thus you need a gearbox between blades and a generator because blades will rotate faster
another option would be a synchronous generator with a converter and no gearbox, but that increases the price a lot
