Consider an alternate system of physics where the equivalence principle doesn’t hold true. In other words, inertial and gravitational mass are not intrinsically equal, but can differ. Assuming whatever conditions you choose are such that a functional universe with intelligent life can even develop in the first place, what are some interesting consequences of this? What technologies could arrive?

A simple case would be where there exists two types of materials, one where the gravitational mass is positive, and one where it is negative, both cases have it with the same magnitude as the inertial mass. This negative gravitate mass wouldn’t be the same as conventional “exotic matter”, since the F=ma wouldn’t be inverted.

Another case would be where the gravitational mass differs only by a small perturbation, perhaps induced by a gravitational field like ferromagnetic hysteresis. Performing the cavendish experiment in such a universe might provide some unusually unpredictable results.
