Looks like a typical vidyagame with all the "fancy" characters, but at its core, its more complex than chess.
its like Chess with 5 players on each side. Each player can pick from a pool of ~120 Chess figures. The "chessboard" does not have a grid, its free to move with actual objectives and obstacles that can be used.
Every figure has to farm efficiently, which requires disipline and awareness and teamcommunication. And also Analytical skills to predict&plan enemy teams and your own teams itemization, which is also affected by how much farm you are and were able to obtain.
You have to analyze the enemy teams hero synergy and their gameplan, aswell as get your gameplan going.
It requires leadership skills, out of the box thinking, Strategic thinking, Quick thinking, quick reaction, social competence. Dunni maybe other stuff I forgot.
Dota has a steep learning curve and its community is probably one of the most toxic ones kek
