However, unlike others, I educated myself on finances and was careful about what life decisions I made. I didn't blindly go into a college degree, I researched it and looked at expected outcomes. I didn't spend every penny I had, I live well below my means and save/invest as much as I can. While I did marry (and then divorce within 2 years) the first girl I fucked, my wife is someone I chose who has similar values.
As a direct result, my wife and I will be able to retire within 10 years if we didn't want kids. But since we do, it'll be about 20 years (they're expensive - about $250k to $500k from 0 thru 18).
Everyone, almost literally everyone but certainly a majority, that grew up in the US had the same opportunities but they didn't and continue not to take them.
