As an industry scientist, I find academic scientists to be grossly unprofessional and poor candidates to trust. Industry sciences are held to a significantly higher degree of audits, skepticism, and oversight, whereas academic sciences are, quite often, literally a "just trust me bro" situation. It's disgusting. Obviously industry management doesn't typically publicly show their data if it's detracting, but all the data they create is fully traceable, auditable, and understandable. Blame the FDA for not mandating it's reveal, but the data was always there. No one in the real world take academic scientists seriously since 95% lack those basic scientific principles and oversight.
