>>13434688I think the colors may not be used for vision as we understand it. 12 colors mean 4096 basic colors, and exponentially more if you start counting the polarization or varying shades.
I tjink it could allow their vision to work more like our smell in the sense there are "bad" colors to avoid and "good" colors to seek that correspond to dangers, food, etc. and allows vision with minimal brain processing.
