This shitty thread, it's an example of a problem with understanding the notation of math, it's not an actual math problem at all, itself.
8/2 times (2+2)
pemdas is the standard notation that people are expected to use.
That means parenthesis is first.
2+2 = 4.
Then you do 8/2 times 4.
Next they expect you to go left to right.
8/2 = 4.
And 4 times 4 is 16.
This brainlet thread is worse than high school math because it's not even a math problem.
The actual "problem" here is people who think you are supposed to do the arithmetic in a different order so they get a different answer.
And that is entirely a problem with the notation and not the math itself. Which does warrant an inquiry into why we don't have a better way of writing expressions so they are less ambiguous.
