is there a reason people were so hyped up for jeff bezos going into space? The USSR already did that 70 years ago. Noble wannabes like elon musk and jeff bezos are busy playing with sandbox tools and doing things that were commonplace 70 years ago while China is landing probes on the dark side of the moon and the EU is landing probes on comets. Not impressive

That is old news from a couple of years ago and most recently they've landed a rover on Mars. According to your logic, that's unimpressive because it's already been done before, and you're probably right. In the future however, China will probably lead in space exploration. Similarly, Virgin Galactic, Space X and Blue Origin will lead in space tourism in the future. Space race is no longer U.S.A. vs U.S.S.R. it's currently restructuring to be American capitalism vs. Chinese socialism so during the intermediary period a lot of shit that's been done before is repeated before the main race begins.
