A substancial share of all food production is wasted, and many food products are conserved via artifical chemicals or processes that change its characterics (or don't stop other changes).

Having a more varied, decentralized and local food production can improve this, but there also must be a way to improve the methods used to converse food (both in costs and effectiveness).
