Reverse polarity could prolly work. You would need a big reflecting material in your backyard ( more like an hectare or two) and reflect the energy back at the sun ( more in a secind than all energy used by humanity) this much energy sent back at the sun would surely distabilize the star and accerate fusion. If you can get the sun to fuse iron then it would be byebye in a few minutes

stars are very stable systems because all the volatile stuff is on the surface in an equilibrium, it is so stable in fact nothing changes for billions of years

uh no, star energy is tremendous, it's not star wars, you don't just shoot a lazer at it and it blows up
when a star go supernova, the reverse polarity happens when the star couldn't contain all the mass left over from all the fusion it has done for the past billions of years
blowing up star in a perfected good state requires that kind of energy equivalence

I’d imagine you need material for all sides of the Sun to reflect it back for it to be significant enough energy considering capturing distance from sun squared has a big bleed off in energy.

So you wish to blow up the sun:
You will need;
A dyson sphere
Or
A gravity wave generator

Using the dyson sphere in inverse, you can reverse polarity.
Using the GWG you can create a destabilizing yoyo effect that tips the sun over its fissile fusion rate and effectively causes it to overconsume itself to breaking point.
The resulting explosion from forcing the sun to explode before its time, with that much energy would likely even cause a quasar.
