Very state of quantum physics. Does anyone actually understand what The fuck is going on or do physicists just ignore the details because QM makes accurate predictions?

I'm sure physicists have a decent idea about what's going on, but I doubt you'll get the answer you're looking for on /sci/. You'll probably be better off reading more about the subject. The amount of times I see posts on here that think they BTFO somewhat well-established theories is astounding.
That being said, I haven't studied QM in-depth yet but somehow I doubt there's absolutely no explanation as to why measuring an observable returns an eigenvalue of the corresponding operator or why the square of the wave function is a probability distribution. Otherwise, the physicists who proposed these ideas wouldn't get very far without being questioned by other physicists. Most physicists aren't dummies. Have a little bit of faith that there's some sort of reasoning behind the way these things have been laid out and continue reading about it instead of posting here is my suggestion.

The latter. If you read up on QM from the early 20th century, physicists actually had a decent theory going with the Bohr/Sommerfeld model at one point, but they abandoned it for the retarded mess taught in university today because creating a coherent model of the atom is incompatible with special relativity. Of course, there's a good reason for that since it turns out that SR is just a misunderstanding of Doppler shift, but that's neither here nor there....
