MOBA's and IQ

is it safe to assume that MOBA's require more "intelligence" (losely speaking) than all of the other genres within vidya.

Generally speaking,not just "anyone" can be good at MOBAS especially at the higher ranks, hell even midwits can barely stay afloat in Diamond let alone the higher divisions.

You dont see your average brainlet playing DOTA or even LoL.

Therefore can we all agree being good at MOBA's CORRELATES with having a higher IQ than all other subgenres ?

Yes to some level. Strategy games are /sci/ as per technical diction.

You can only strategize with variables and wherever variables are involved. /science/ is practically never born without variables (something that will store , count and display a value ) and MOBAs basically run on statistics databases just like trad card games , even turn every player into a Micro Database with transactions in real time. So yes.

Funny you think I still play games that don't involve large sums of money and outsmarting a whole class of yesmen that say the market is unbeatable.
I played Dota on Warcraft. Then played League preseason. Gold season 1 on a 300 ping network. Back when they had a real elo system. The only silver I smell is stacked in the closet. Go on, keep that cs high.

hahahaha i play a game so it must be for smart people. literally millions of players, one of the most normalfaggy genres in the world. this has to be bait.

i'll break it to you as a former starcraft 2 pro: videogames are not for intelligent people period. professional level play is about autistically learning the game (especially exploitable things that have yet to be but will be soon patched, in other words keeping up to date). wannabes who watch just follow what pros do without context, not knowing the game properly. also having the stupidity to waste your time on it and not do something actually sustainable and worthwhile. there is no creativity and very little intelligence is required. the reason why everyone isn't great at the game is because they play to have fun. being a pro is not fun, it's a job that you get trapped in because you've sunk so much time into learning it. .

ok you don't know what you're talking about. been a couple years and i only know dota, but i'm pretty sure supports are key and often the best and most knowledgeable players. this is because the role is broader and meant for leaders.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand League of Legends. The gameplay is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the strategies will go over a typical player's head. it all boils down to either upgrading, for later advantage, or attacking your opponent while he's upgrading, with lots of fluff like micro, modifiers, fog of war, thrown in between to muddy up the waters. units fighting can be seen as trading resources at advantageous prices, due to momentum, counters, upgrades, etc. i like what they did with Offworld Trading Company, stripping the genre down to its core, other than that i played AoE2, and it's fun and everything, but feels too baroque with all these modifiers, and mechanics hidden behind the scene.

personally, for me it's Puyo Puyo:
- combinatorical
- the same powering / rushing dynamics as "serious" strategy games
- fast as hell
- no hidden variables or mechanics
- on the market, unchanged for the past 30 years, and about to stay

if i had to pick a single game to sink my hours into, get proficient, and keep myself sharp, that would be this.
