Im thinking about buying this book (hardcover version)! I have interest in math and my goal is to major math at university. So is this book for me or i look for something else? Also if you have suggestion feel free to share!

To be honest, I would not generally recommend any sort of book with "handbook", "companion", "proofs", or "guide" in the title, although Gowers' is a good mathematician and communicator, so that book might be better than most. If you have studied calculus already, then I would really recommend is Understanding Analysis by Abbott. If that is too much for you, then Euclid's Elements or Kenneth Rosen's Discrete Mathematics.

I just want a solid background in analysis if I'm going to work with stats in my career.
I do not care about any other topic in mathematics.
