My appendix ruptured but I wasn't seen by the hospital until 7 days later by which time it had been walled off by the omentum and developed an abscess. I had two CT scans last month, the type where they inject you with radioactive liquid and then the machine spins and blasts you with x-rays.
I recovered with only antibiotics and my appendix has not been removed. I have no symptoms or pain anymore. But the hospital want me to undergo another CT scan next month and then have the appendix removed. I'm worried about radiation and cancer. I've already had two CT scans, I really don't want a third. And as for removing the appendix, I'd rather not undergo surgery when I feel fine now.
Is this the wrong decision? Am I a fool for declining further treatment?
