Why? Didn't they just do this a month ago and brought a god damned building down with this shit? Why do it again? And would a mere 40,000 lbs. of TNT create such a powerful earthquake when it's not coupled to the ocean bedrock? Does this make any sense at all? Their last shock test didn't create any quake afaik.

Why would setting off an explosive floating in the water cause an earthquake? Even if you set off an explosive on land, just lying on the ground, it won't do this. You'd have to set it off deep under the ground.

Could there have been some additional reason why the U.S. is setting off explosives that are actually buried into the ocean floor near its East Coast? Do they think there are hidden Chinese or Russian missile subs in the area that could be "parked" on the ocean floor that would be breached from the shockwave?

No? There's hundreds of high rise condos and hotels closer to the detonation site than the one that collapsed in Miami.
