how do cosmologists cope with their dark energy model being a literal perpetual energy mechanism that violates the laws of physics?

it doesn't mean much for us here on earth because while maybe its possible to extract energy from the universe on a larger scale, we have been utterly bound by entropy with physics on a human scale let alone an earth scale.

I think most cosmologists just want to spend their time looking through telescopes and don't actually give a fuck about physics let alone theoretical physics.

They don't spend time looking through telescopes. After Marc Aaronson was crushed to death by a badly engineered (by astronomers), unsafe telescope enclosure, the powers that be at NOAO determined that all large telescopes needed to be protected from the astronomers by employing professional telescope operators to take data and run the telescopes and that the astronomers could hang out and watch the telescope operators work if they wanted to, but that they shouldn't touch anything. It was also determined that actual engineers would design and build all future construction as well as reviewing and modifying the amateur efforts that were already in place.
The upshot of all this is that most astronomers no longer show up for their observing runs, unless they got time on a Hawaii telescope, and then they only show up at the offices rather than the mountaintop, to make a token appearance to justify their free Hawaiian vacation paid for with research funds.

thats a really nice conspiracy but it sounds entirely made up? Maybe theres like 5 dudes who are really in crony style with their university. But I can't imagine the average cosmologist is being paid to take vacaitons and sit on their ass while a team of engineers do all of the work for them.

that isn't a conspiracy, brainlet, it's common fucking knowledge. technicians work in the lab, while those with the big degrees write the papers and direct the experiments.
if you had an inkling of how academia works you would already know this. it's not even as if this is something that is covered up. fucking niel tyson probably has a post about it on his twitter, i bet.
