>>13391130Literally from the moment the pandemic was announced I have been talking about how there would be a rise of authoritarianism during the pandemic that would wane after it ended. This happens during every pandemic.
Regarding your argument that you don't need to take a vax if everybody else did, including statistically people who are younger/at less risk than you, it shouldn't be a shock that people are "oppressing" you. It's game theoretical that in a situation where a minority can benefit from freeloading, some who didn't freeload will "oppress" those who did in an attempt to ensure that freeloaders don't get ahead.
What's happening isn't people becoming irrational tools of oppression, what's happening is all very rational. Freeloaders painting themselves as having freeloaded in the interest of protecting freedom. Retaliators retaliating against these people. Some people trying to straddle a middle position where they got the vaccine but don't expend energy trying to penalise others for doing so (who are also detested by the retaliators, but perhaps less so).
It all makes perfect sense. This was always how it was going to play out. /pol/ are selfish bastards. People trying to retaliate against people not getting vaxxed when probably enough people are vaxxed for the moment care more about self-promotion than public health. People getting vaxxed and not getting involved in shitflinging are trying to get through this expending the least energy possible. All of this makes perfect sense, all of this is self-interested, all of this is rational, all of this was pre-ordained.
Vaxxing won't become mandatory except in specific contexts (hospitals, international travel, a few other things) because there is simply no need and too much cost. This is all media FUD to get clicks.
