If we somehow do, then space travel, AI, the possibility of intelligent extraterrestrial life, advanced robots, and a plethora of other things would forever trump the entire concept of race, among other things. Humans would finally be humbled and in awe, and our once petty squabbles about trivial issues that seem so important to us would become meaningless. No one's going to care about race, political ideology, or etc. if we travel space and discover aliens.
