There are also some "podcasts" and YouTubers that are hosted by academics or that focus on interviewing academics. And just to be clear I'm not referring to Lex Fridman or Joe Rogan or any of that shit. I mean stuff like Razib Khan or the Dissenter. Those are the two main ones that come to mind, but there are definitely others.
Also, there are probably some academic books and journal article you could read. What you want to do, is probably avoid primary research literature that reports empirical studies. These sorts of papers tend to be very detailed and often include more discussion of the methodology and experimental design rather than the actual results. What you are looking for is probably more like survey articles or review articles that provide a more conceptual discussion of current knowledge and ongoing research, rather than the specific details of a particular experiment. Of course, these article are a little less common, but there are still a lot of them. I don't really have any advice on how to find these articles though, desu. If your looking for biology stuff, then I would recommend anything in the Vienna Series on Theoretical Biology. They're great books, and reasonably priced. However, I don't know about the more tech side of things that you seem to be interested in.
