Best you might do is some sort of long-range communication device similar to Contact. The key would not be field-based but would have to involve stepping out of our three-dimensional space entirely, but in a way that preserves us and allows us to retake three-dimensional form.

At least we got closer to developing a warp-drive lately, scientists found out we don't need exotic matter to make it work, only a huge amount of ordinary matter is needed to bend space properly.

What I'm trying to teach you is that some rules can be bent, otthers can be broken.

More seriously I am yet to hear of any practically feasible method of FTL. Though I think we will be able to build structures which will tear a wormhole between them for us to travel through.

Downside being we will have to use a generation ship to get far enough to make building them worthwhile.

FTL travel would have to go backwards in time. That means that if we ever had it in the future, we would have it in the past as well. Since we don't, we never will.
