Gen Z, you're the least likely to believe in the existence of God. What is your assessment of the prior generations? Think they will be able to pray to God to have a miracle occur or will they graciously let up burning fossil fuels, sparing your generation an agonizing fate?
The oceans are warming. The average temperatures are climbing. The clock is ticking- There is 8 years 5 months to reduce fossil fuels and energy use by 90% to meet the obligations they signed up for in the 2000s. That would require, on the order, of about 9% reduction in total energy use (Using car one day less per week, for example). Do you think the world will accomplish this?
Right now "policy statements" are being published by corporations and countries around the world. Mostly, they promise "Zero emissions by 2040,"- or later. Do you think these promises will be kept?
In the event that uncontrollable feedback loops make life more and more unbearable, would you support a global hegemony- military or otherwise- to maintain a schedule to zero emissions?
How many of you are okay with the prospect that perhaps billions will starve and die, and the rest of the world basically existing underground, out to 2100, after which you will likely not survive, but be in a position to make promises to your progeny? What kind of promises would you make and would those be statements of honest intent or some other kind of statement?
