People die due to accumulation of useless byproducts in the body. Number 1 cause of death in the world is cardiovascular disease. Most of those are caused by atherosclerosis and its complications. DNA shortening in somatic cells is irrelevant to this. Instead replacing the damaged organs is far more benefitial, ie the heart after myocardial infarction. There are artificial hearts on the market but they all suffer from short batteryspan, weighing a lot and trombi forming.
