Is composting human waste (poop and pee) really as dangerous as it is made out to be? Whenever you look up the topic there seems to be endless warnings about how it is TERRIBLY dangerous because of all of the pathogens and bacteria that human waste contains. And yet apparently asian countries such as China and Japan had made use of human waste for fertilizing fields for 4000 years until the industrial revolution where they gradually switched to industrially produced fertilizers. I have a hard time seeing how humanity can be sustainable for much longer while we destroy the most basic cycle of life (animals eat --> poop --> fertilizes the ground --> plants grow --> animals eat).
