More importantly, the average rate of twinning is not different based upon race, and 8 per 1000 is not the statistical average, not even close. For a healthy 25 year old woman, the rate is about 20 out of 1000 or to put it another way, 1 in 50. The rate is higher for tall women, women recently ceasing birth control, and older women. If a woman is tall and over 40, her odds are about 1 in 25, which is even further from the number laid out there.
