You will need:
- some very tough protection against heating and striking insects at Mach 1
- some impressive propulsion means, perhaps borrowed from the bombardier beetle
- eye protection or very alternative means of knowing where to go (microwaves?)
You might want to come up with a plausible reason for a bird to hammer through the speed of sound.
