You don’t need to be in something to curve, but I don’t expect a dimwit like you to be able to understand that. Physicists don’t care what the universe is “in” they only care about aspects of the universe that can be quantified by telescopes, particle colliders, and other similar devices.

Space itself is the directions, and they are what's getting warped... so "Up" now means, towards the point of gravity. So you can't move up without slightly moving towards the center of gravity.

So you are accelerating at all times towards the center of gravity no matter what direction you move in.

And if the spacetime is bent SO MUCH like in a black hole, you can't move any direction except towards the center of gravity because it's fully bent.

spaces can be curved intrinsically, without a reference to some ambient space. it's not implied that the spacetime curves ""into"" a
5th dimension or something, it is curved in itself. it took some time for people to figure this out, though.
